WHAT: SLSGB Level 1 First Aider (8h/1 Day) and SLSGB Tube Rescuer (Half Day) - great for anyone in charge of swim groups, or people who want more safety knowledge for the beach environment.
You will need to be a member of SLSGB for both courses.
TRAINING :Sat 10th (9-5pm) and Sun 11th (9-3pm) May 2025
ASSESMENT: is held throughout the weekend
WHERE: Saturday First Aid will be held in Modbury area, Sunday Tube Rescue will be held at Bugbury On Sea/ Burugh Island
COST: Day 1 (first aid only) - £100 / Day 2 (tube rescue only) - £65 / Both Days (£150)
Day 1 - Level 1 First Aid (Course Specification HERE) - This award will teach a level of competence to administer basic life support and first aid skills for minor injuries along with how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), provide CPR alongside safely alongside First Aid Incidents.
The course will cover:
1.1. Understand the role of the first-aider, including reference to: the importance of preventing cross infection; the need for recording incidents and actions; use of available equipment;
1.2. Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency;
1.3. Administer first aid to an adult casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
1.4. Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation to an adult casualty who is not breathing;
1.5. Administer first aid to an adult casualty who is choking;
1.6. Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
1.7. Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
1.8. Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, Bites and stings and small splinters).
Day 2 - Tube Rescuer (Course Specification HERE) - Demonstrate a level of competence in carrying out a rescue using a rescue tube that would give them the capability to act as supporting water cover for session in the beach enviornment.
You will need to provide your own kit for the wet sessions on Day 2, any specialist kit will be provided for you.
The course is run by a current and a trainee SLSGB trainer and assessor, so you're in professional and experienced hands.
