SLSGB Beach Lifeguard Course (NVBQL), Surf Lifesaver, and Surf Lifeguard

COST: £325 per person
The SLSGB lifeguard courses are the highest quality award available in the UK. Internationally recognised for lifeguards worldwide. Please note we offer Surf Lifesaver, Beach Lifeguard and Surf Lifeguard all during this week but these have different entry and fitness requirements.
Surf Lifeguard is the preferred qualification taken by RNLI lifeguards in the UK. You'll need to be a minimum of 16 years of age and once you qualify, the certificate is valid for 24 months.
Whilst the course we deliver may vary in timing the syllabus is pretty regimented to adhere to the highest of standards. You should expect to cover:

Fitness tests including swimming and running on the beach to time restraints

Swimming skills including surface dives

Unconscious rescues
-
Using rescue apparatus appropriately

Beach lifeguard signals
-
Simulating rescue situations
-
Rescuing both conscious, unconscious and non-breathing patients

Basic life support including CPR, recovery positions, opening airways and spinal management

Providing patient aftercare
-
Working individually and as a lifeguard leader
The Price Includes: lifeguard and first aid manuals, all training and examination fees, access to online learning platforms
Pre Requists For The Surf Lifesaver: A 400m timed swim in the pool, in under 9 minutes, and a 200m run in under 60 seconds. You will need to be a member of SLSGB, you can sign up HERE
Pre Requists For The Beach Lifeguard: You will need to be able to pass the fitness tests. A 400m timed swim in the pool, in under 8 minutes. You will need to be a member of SLSGB, you can sign up HERE
Pre Requists For The Surf Lifeguard: You will need to be able to pass the fitness tests. A 400m timed swim in the pool, in under 7 min 30 sec, and a 200m run in under 40 seconds. You will need to be a member of SLSGB, you can sign up HERE
What you'll need to bring: Wetsuit, Booties, Gloves if needed, goggles, packed lunch and snacks, warm dry clothes for inside days and after water activities
The course is run by a current RNLI trainer and assessor, so you're in professional and experienced hands.
SLSGB Tube Rescuer
Sun 11th May from 9-1pm (run in line with Level 1 First Aid on Saturday 10th May)
COST: £65 per person (or $150 total with Level 1 First Aid)
The SLSGB lifeguard courses are the highest quality award available in the UK. This award will establish a level of competence to provide supporting water safety as a rescue tube swimmer. There is a minimum age of 16 for our course.
You should expect to cover:

Demonstrate an understanding of the underpinning knowledge and skills to work within a beach environment

Demonstrate a level of competence in carrying out a rescue using a rescue tube that would give them the capability to act as supporting water cover for Surf Life Saving sessions, or swim sessions.

Pre Requests For The Surf Lifesaver: There is no formal perquisites, but a good level of fitness is required as you will running in and out of water, towing, lifting, diving etc.

What you'll need to bring: Wetsuit, Booties, Gloves if needed, goggles, packed lunch and snacks, warm dry clothes for after water activities and dry side learning.

SLSGB First Aid Level 1 and Level 2
Sat 10th May for Level 1
COST: £100 per person (or £150 total with Tube Rescue)
Level 1 (1 day) Includes:

Understand the role of the first-aider

Preventing cross infection

Recording incidents and actions

Administer first aid to an adult casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)

Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation to an adult casualty who is not breathing

Administer first aid to an adult casualty who is choking

Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding

Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock

Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries
Level 2 (an additional 2 days) adds on:

Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation to a child and infant casualty

Administer first aid to a child and infant casualty who is choking

Administer first aid to a casualty with: - Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries

Head injuries

Chest injuries

Burns and scalds

Eye injuries

Sudden poisoning

Demonstrate the differences in resuscitation of a person recovered from the water

Teating the presence of major illness (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, sepsis, anaphylaxis) and provide appropriate first aid

Demonstrate the ability to manage a major first aid incident
